new iMacs in Sept?

iMacNo new iMacs for now.
All new iMacs in September

Something you don't see every day, a big slip up by Apple. Visiting the Apple online store and checking iMac details reveals the current situation.

Apple has stopped taking orders for the current iMac as we begin the transition from the current iMac line to an all-new iMac line which will be announced and available in September.
We planned to have our next generation iMac ready by the time the inventory of current iMacs runs out in the next few weeks, but our planning was obviously less than perfect.
We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers

The first possibility that comes to mind is delays in the 2.5GHz G5 machines due to problems getting G5s quick enough, could this be the same reason for the iMac delay? G5 or not, somewhere in Cupertino are surely some almost-ready-to-go new model iMacs in tiny quantities.

This could be a bigger damage to Apple when they first announced the flat-panel iMac in January 2002, but have to delay the shipment.

And what would be the next iMac be? Just wait.
