iTunes 4.7, iPod Photo and iPod U2 edition

iTunes 4.7Apple Computer has released version 4.7 of its iTunes software, currently available as a free download for Mac OS X and Windows 2000 and XP. This new version implements a number of improvements, including the ability to copy photos to be viewed on an iPod, search for and delete duplicate songs, and other changes.

iPod PhotoApple's new software offerings have been complemented by appropriate hardware offerings as well. New models of its popular iPod digital music player are available:

The iPod Photo, available with both 40GB or massive 60GB storage capacities, contains a backlit 65,536-color LCD display suitable for viewing photos.

iPod U2 special editionThe iPod U2 Special Edition, meanwhile, is a limited-edition model. Closely coinciding with the release of the band U2's new album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, this model is distinguished by a unique black case with red Click Wheel, and the signatures of each U2 band member etched on the back. It also includes a coupon good for $50 off the purchase of "The Complete U2" from the iTunes Music Store and is shipped with an exclusive poster.

A new iPod Updater is available for all iPod models as well. It improves the power management and the playback performance on most models.
