Apple releases Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta

Apple has updated Boot Camp to version 1.1.1 beta. According to the Boot Camp web page, the update adds support for the latest Intel-based Macs, drive partition presets for popular sizes, built-in iSight and microphone support, Right-click support for the right-side Apple key,the ability to install Windows XP on any internal disk, and more.

Boot Camp is Apple's solution for installing and running Windows on Mac, allowing owners of Intel-based Macs to install and boot Windows XP alongside Mac OS X. Unlike virtualisation solutions (e.g. Parallels Desktop), Apple's solution requires users to reboot machines to switch from one operating system to another.

Boot Camp was originally released in 5th April 2006, and the final version is expected in Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" due in the early 2007.


Changes in Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta contains many updates and is intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users.

Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta includes:

  • Support for the latest Intel-based Macintosh computers
  • Easier partitioning using presets for popular sizes
  • Ability to install Windows XP on any internal disk
  • iSight camera support
  • Support for built-in microphones
  • Right-click when pressing the right-hand Apple key on Apple keyboards
  • Improved Apple keyboard support including Delete, PrintScreen, NumLock, and ScrollLock keys
