UniversalFileMaker, a subsidiary wholly-owned by Apple Inc., released FileMaker Pro 9 the Mac database system. FileMaker Pro 9 is a major new version of the company’s award-winning database application for Windows and Mac OS X. Offering more than 30 ease-of-use breakthroughs — including live connections to SQL data and an innovative PHP site assistant — FileMaker Pro 9 makes it easier to create, automate, and share databases, as well as to generate reports. With versions designed for end users and database developers, the new product line consists of FileMaker Pro 9, FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced, FileMaker Server 9, and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced.


FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced are Universal Applications and also work for Windows (XP SP2 or Vista).

FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced are Universal Applications work for Mac OS X 10.4.9 and Mac OS X Server 10.4.9 or later, they also work for Windows servers (XP SP2, 2003 Server SP2, 2000 Server SP4).

FileMaker Pro 9 is priced at US$299, and upgrades from FileMaker Pro 7, 8, and 8.5 cost $179. FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced costs $499, and upgrades from FileMaker Developer 7, FileMaker Pro Advanced 8 and 8.5 Advanced are $299.
