iTunes Store turns 5

iTunes Store turns 5

Started on 28th April 2003, and originally called “iTunes Music Store”. Apple iTunes Store has been around for 5 years. The music category grow from 200,000 songs to over 10 million during its first half decade, now, not just music, but also, TV shows, movies and more.

Besides Audiobooks, Podcasts, TV shows and movies, Apple has since added 256kbps AAC-encoded DRM-free iTunes Plus tracks. It also moved into the education world with iTunes U, began offering games for the iPod, added the ability to download songs wirelessly with an iPod touch or iPhone.

Happy Birthday iTunes Store.
