Mac OS X 10.5.8 update released

Mac OS X Leopard

Apple released an update to Mac OS X Leopard, making the version to 10.5.8. This update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard, it includes improvements in compatibility and reliability when trying to connect a Mac to an AirPort network, as well as restore Display System Preferences, and Bluetooth reliability.

Also included in Mac OS X 10.5.8: an upgrade to Safari 4.0.2, with improved accuracy of search history; a fix for importing large photo and movie files from cameras; better iCal, iDisk, MobileMe, AFP, Managed Client, Sync Service reliability; more support for RAW images from third-party cameras; and improved compatibility for external USB drives. Apple also releases Security Update 2009-003 for Mac OS X Tiger (v.10.4.11). Security Update 2009-003 for Mac OS X Leopard is included in this Mac OS X 10.5.8 Update.

Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on 26 October 2007, the first update was released in mid November 2007, the second update was released in mid February 2008, followed by Mac OS X 10.5.3 in late May, Mac OS X 10.5.4 in late June, Mac OS X 10.5.5 in mid September, Mac OS X 10.5.6 in mid December 2008, and Mac OS X 10.5.7 in mid May 2009. Leopard is packed with over 300 new features, installs easily, and works with the software and accessories users already have. The upcoming Snow Leopard is scheduled to be released in September this year.
