Parallels today announced the availability of the fastest, most seamless Windows-on-Mac solution ever: Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac. This application enables more than 2 million users to run Windows, Linux and other operating systems side-by-side with Mac OS X. According to research group Crimson Consulting Group, recent tests revealed that Windows 7 runs 22% times faster in a Parallels Desktop 5 virtual machine on a Mac than in any other Windows-on-Mac solution.

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac is faster, smarter and more powerful. It support full Windows 7 experience including AERO for Windows 7 and Vista, better graphics performance than previous versions, and runs on Mac OS X 10.6. Enhanced graphic support including 64-bit, DirectX 9.0c/9Ex and Shader Model 3 support -- even in Windows 7. OpenGL 2.1 support for Linux guest OS, etc.

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac requires Any Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, including Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

The recommended retail price of Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac is $79.99. New users can test a free, fully-functional copy for 14 days. Users who purchased version 4.0 on or after 1st October 2009 qualify for a free upgrade to version 5. Current Parallels Desktop users can upgrade their existing software for only $39.99 between now and 17th November. From 18th November, the upgrading price would be $49.99.
