After the public Beta released in January, Adobe has released Photoshop Lightroom 4. Photoshop Lightroom is a photography software program designed to assit Adobe Photoshop users in managing large quantities of digital images and doing post production work. (Photoshop Lightroom is not to be confused with media file manager/browser such as Adobe Bridge, Photoshop Lightroom is a direct competition to Apple's Aperture.)

New features of Photoshop Lightroom include: Highlight and shadow recovery brings out all the detail that your camera captures in dark shadows and bright highlights.
Photo book creation with easy-to-use elegant templates.
Location-based organization lets you find and group images by location, assign locations to images, and display data from GPS-enabled cameras.
White balance brush to refine and adjust white balance in specific areas of your images.
Additional local editing controls let you adjust noise reduction and remove moiré in targeted areas of your images.
Extended video support for organizing, viewing, and making adjustments and edits to video clips.
Easy video publishing lets you edit and share video clips on Facebook and Flickr, and more.

It is interesting to note that in this version, the support for Windows XP has been dropped on Windows platform. It requires Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 processor, Windows Vista (with SP2) or Windows 7 (with SP1) and 2 GB of RAM.

On Mac OS platform, it requires 64-bit Intel based processor and runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7 with 2 GB of RAM.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 is now available for Mac and Windows at www.adobe.com/store. The estimated street price is US$149 for new users or US$79 for upgrades.
