iMac with Retina 5K Display

iMac Retina 5K

Apple has unveiled the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display, featuring the world’s highest-resolution display — with 14.7 million pixels at 5120x2880 resolution. At this resolution, text appears sharper than ever, videos are more lifelike, and you can see new levels of detail in photos. “Thirty years after the first Mac changed the world, the new iMac with Retina 5K display running OS X Yosemite is the most insanely great Mac we have ever made,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With a breathtaking 14.7-million-pixel display, faster CPU and graphics, Fusion Drive, and Thunderbolt 2, it’s the most beautiful and powerful iMac ever.”

The new iMac includes a 3.5GHz Intel i5 processor upgradable to 4.0GHz, a Radeon R9 290X or 295X video card, Thunderbolt 2, a 1TB Fusion Drive, and 8GB RAM. The Retina iMac is more power-efficient, too, using 30 percent less electricity.

The new iMac with Retina Display is priced at US$2,499 (+ tax) or AU$2,999 (incl GST) and is available today. iMac with regular display (non-Retina) is still available at 21.5-inch (1920x1080 resolution) and 27-inch (2560x1440 resolution) models.
