Jesse Willms Releases Full List Of Partnership Charities After "Season of Giving"
At the start of the summer, Internet entrepreneur Jesse Willms made a decision to become a philanthropist and help make the world a better place. Now that his first full Òseason of givingÓ is coming to a close, Willms has released a list of the charities he has worked with over the past three months.
He said that this does not mean he has stopped giving. In fact, he plans to donate money to several more charities during the fall and winter. He said that the milestone of summer ending simply seemed like a good time to assess his initial giving efforts.
Jesse Willms is a modern-day Internet success story, starting with a modest computer and software sales website at 16 years old. By the time he turned 22 he had launched several successful companies.
He became inspired by the charitable works of Warren Buffett and Bill Gates and decided to dedicate much of his time and energy to finding worthy charitable organizations to lend his support to.
Willms believes that helping children is the best way to build a better future, which is why many of the organizations he supports helps young people, single parents and women.
He says he hopes that other successful business people follow his lead. Here is a full list of the organizations that Willms has made significant contributions to:
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters Of Canada. He supports their world-famous program that mentors at-risk youth.
- YESS. There are no social services available for Canadian teens after the age of 15 and before the age of 18. YESS combats this by offering shelter, financial assistance and guidance to these young people.
- The Pajama Program. This organization provides sleepwear and books to poor children, many of whom are waiting for adoption. ¥ World Vision. This international, faith-based charity helps millions of children around the world. Willms has sponsored over 130 children through World Vision.
- Kiva. This organization provides microloans that help budding entrepreneurs in third world countries build their way out of poverty.
- Samaritan's Purse. Another faith-based organization that provides food, medicine and education to impoverished children in third-world countries.
- The Breast Cancer Research Fund. There are over 1.5 million new cases of breast cancer reported each and every year. The BCRF is dedicating to both helping fund treatment and look for a cure. The BCRF is the only breast cancer research charity to receive an A+ rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy.
- Boston Children's Hospital. Willms said that he is proud to support one of the best pediatric care hospitals in the world. He hopes his donations will help fund research that will make the lives of their patients longer, better and healthier.
- The Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund. Created by the National Wildlife Federation, this fund is dedicated to helping restore the ecosystems that were damaged by the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster earlier this year. Many species have become endangered as the spill has damaged their normal breeding, nesting and hunting grounds. The fund recruits volunteers who work hard to undo the damage.
- The Nevada YMCA. The Young Men's Christian Association has spent generations giving a sense of community and hope to young people in America. They provide camp programs, academic enrichment activities, after-school programs and more. The YMCA is one of the most respected and well-known non-profit groups in the United States.
